Frequently Asked Questions
Is this really a ping?
Browsers cannot send ICMP ping packets (protocol limitation). This tool measures response time via HTTP requests, which reflects site access latency and is equally useful for judging site speed.
Why does it differ from command-line ping?
Command-line ping uses ICMP, while this tool uses HTTP. HTTP adds connection and request overhead, so numbers are slightly higher, but relative speed trends are consistent.
Whose latency is measured?
It measures the latency from your current network to the target server. Results differ by location and network provider.
Why can't some websites be tested?
Some sites block cross-origin requests (CORS), so the browser cannot read the response and reports a timeout. Try a site that allows CORS instead.
